A simple real-time shot of a sheet of gold leaf falling.
I love the duality of strength and fragility which exists in sheets of gold leaf; strong in its visual and cultural reception, fragile in its sensitivity to handling and breath. In my studio one night while using it to decorate a mask for a video piece, I dropped a single sheet and fell in love with the way it moved to the ground. Kind of steadied me in my work that night. A bit of a meditation or even chapel-like experience.
